Things you need to consider BEFORE you begin:
1. What is the statutory control, which allows you to ask for means of escape and warning requirements? (Act, regulations section, etc.)

2. What code for means of escape can be used?
3. What structural means of escape requirements are needed?
4. Should the Fire Authority be consulted?
5. Will the existing doors that form the stair enclosure to the stair need to be upgraded?
6. Will the stair enclosure require escape lighting?
7. Does the new top floor require an alternative escape route, and if so what would satisfy this requirement?
8. What level of fire protection would be required to elements of structure for this building?
9. Would the existing first floor require any additional modifications?
